Archbishop Participates in the 11th International Conference of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta on the Future of the Family

Cairo – Wednesday, September 2, 2026

His Grace Bishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal Province of Alexandria, participated in the activities of the 11th International Conference of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta and the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, held in Cairo over two days under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The conference is being held under the theme: “Family Challenges Amid Major Transformations: A Fatwa-Based Approach to Protecting the Family, Anticipating Its Future, and Preserving Identity.”

The conference brings together a distinguished group of prominent scholars, intellectuals, experts, and representatives of religious and intellectual institutions from around the world to discuss the key issues and challenges facing families amid rapid social and intellectual transformations, and to explore ways to strengthen family stability and safeguard its identity.

The conference addresses several themes related to the future of the family, including mechanisms for moving from a “jurisprudence of crisis management” to a “jurisprudence of prevention and anticipation.” This approach seeks to address family challenges before they escalate and to support the family as one of the fundamental pillars of social stability.

Bishop Samy Fawzy’s participation reflects the Episcopal Church’s commitment to dialogue and cooperation among religious and intellectual institutions, as well as its engagement in events addressing family and societal issues and promoting the values of mutual understanding, coexistence, and shared respect.
