Archbishop Samy Fawzy Presides Over Eucharist at Port Said’s Epiphany Church and Honors Graduates

His Grace Bishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal Province of Alexandria, presided over the Holy Eucharist at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Port Said, in the presence of members of the congregation and the families of the graduates, as part of the church’s celebration honoring those who had completed various stages of their education.
The service was attended by the Rev. Mina Helmy, Rector of the church; Deacon Morris Francis; and Brother Naeem Abdullah, a lay minister. The Eucharist included a ceremony honoring graduates from different educational stages, celebrating their transition to new stages in their academic journeys.
In his sermon, the Archbishop reflected on the Parable of the Two Sons, speaking about the meaning of responding to God’s call and emphasizing that saying “yes” cannot remain merely words, but must be translated into obedience and action. He also spoke about how “no” is not the final word and that the door to returning to God remains open. He reflected on Christ’s call: “Go today and work in my vineyard,” explaining that serving God is not limited to a particular place, but can be lived out through one’s studies, work, and wherever one may be.
Addressing the graduates and young people, the Archbishop explained that moving into a new stage of life comes with a number of challenges and decisions, but what matters is that a person’s faith becomes evident in their choices and actions.
He encouraged them not to be content with merely hearing the Word of God, but to move forward and take action, emphasizing that God calls His children to serve today and that each person has a place where they can serve and make a difference through their lives.
The celebration also included honoring participants in the “Miraya” School Program within the Timothy Ministry, whose members won two cups while participating in competitions at the national level.
Members of the church who participated in the Skills Development Workshop were also honored in recognition of their participation and efforts in the workshop, which was organized in partnership between Epiphany Church, the Development Sector of the Diocese, and the Timothy Ministry.
The celebration concluded with congratulations to the graduates and honorees, along with prayers that God would guide them through their new stages of life and use their gifts and lives to serve their communities and others.
