The Most Reverend Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican/Episcopal Province of Alexandria, visited Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Endowments in the New Administrative Capital, to extend congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Adha. The visit took place within the framework of the strong relations and spirit of cooperation that unite religious institutions in Egypt.
The Episcopal Church delegation included Dr. Mounir Hanna, Honorary Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria and Director of the Christian-Muslim Dialogue and Partnership Center; Archdeacon Hany Shenouda, Dean of All Saints Cathedral in Zamalek; Rev. Canon Medhat Sabry, Rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Menouf; Rev. Dr. Matthew Anderson, Rector of the English Ministry at St. John the Baptist Church in Maadi and Academic Director of the Christian-Muslim Dialogue and Partnership Center; Archdeacon Yasser Koko, Pastor of the Sudanese Ministry in the Diocese of Egypt; Rev. Samir Dawood, Pastor of Jesus Prince of Peace Church in Madinat El-Salam and Director of Social Initiatives at the Center; Rev. Yeshua Yaqub, Secretary-General of the Council of Churches of Egypt; Rev. Michael Buchanan, Priest of the Episcopal Church in Ireland; and Mirna Magdy, Media Office Officer of the Episcopal Diocese of Egypt.
The Minister of Endowments welcomed the delegation of the Episcopal Church, expressing his pleasure with this brotherly visit, which reflects the depth of national relations and the spirit of mutual respect and appreciation among all citizens of the nation. He emphasized the importance of continuing joint cooperation in promoting values of coexistence and social peace.
The meeting included an exchange of views and ideas on ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Endowments and the Christian-Muslim Dialogue and Partnership Center, particularly in raising youth awareness, strengthening citizenship values, countering extremist ideologies, and supporting initiatives that promote a culture of dialogue and acceptance of others.
The Minister also approved an invitation to participate in joint awareness efforts with the Episcopal Church, as well as visits to the Christian-Muslim Dialogue and Partnership Center, and contributions to its educational and training initiatives and youth camps. These programs focus on three main pillars: building awareness, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, and implementing community initiatives in environmental and social service fields.
Both sides emphasized the importance of cooperation between religious institutions in promoting values of love and peace, and working together to support societal stability and strengthen national unity.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to exchange cultural gifts in the form of books and encyclopedias, and to take commemorative photographs on the occasion.
