Archbishop of the Episcopal Church Opens the Fourth Family Ministry Conference in Fayed

Fayed – Thursday, June 25, 2026

The Most Rev. Dr. Sami Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria and Archbishop in Egypt, inaugurated the Fourth Family Ministry Conference, organized by the Diocese of Egypt’s Family Ministry Committee. The conference is being held from June 25–27, 2026, at St. George House in Fayed.

Held under the theme “Restore and Rebuild,” inspired by the biblical verse, “They shall rebuild the ancient ruins” (Isaiah 61:4), the conference brings together clergy and their spouses, as well as family ministry leaders and their spouses. Its aim is to strengthen pastoral counseling and family care skills while equipping participants to better support and accompany Christian families.

Archbishop Fawzy opened the conference with a prayer for the event and its participants, asking God to bless the ministry to families and to grant wisdom and strength to all those serving in pastoral care.

The conference is organized under the supervision of the Rev. Ehab Ayoub, Coordinator of the Diocese’s Family Ministry Committee, while the program is led by the Rev. Serag Nabil. It features a combination of spiritual formation and practical training addressing key issues and challenges facing Christian families today.

The conference includes three main training sessions. Dr. Magued Azmy presents a lecture on anger, examining its nature, causes, consequences, methods of healthy management, and its impact on family relationships.

Dr. Heidi Hanna delivers a session entitled “Loss of Passion in Marriage (Emotional Coldness),” exploring the causes and characteristics of emotional detachment, its effects on marital and family life, and practical approaches to restoring emotional connection.

The training program concludes with a lecture by Dr. Magdy Kamel entitled “Restoring the Marital Relationship,” which addresses common misconceptions about married life, the importance of healing damaged relationships, rebuilding trust, and restoring healthy communication between spouses.

The conference reflects the Episcopal Church’s ongoing commitment to supporting the family as the foundation of society by equipping family ministers with the knowledge, skills, and pastoral tools needed to accompany and strengthen families as they navigate life’s various challenges.

To ensure the full participation of all members of the Church, the entire conference program is being interpreted into Egyptian Sign Language, providing full accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants.
