Archbishop Visits Bishop Paphnutius of Samalout to Promote a Spirit of Love and Cooperation

Today, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Episcopal/Anglican Church, paid a cordial visit to His Eminence Bishop Paphnutius, Bishop of Samalout and its affiliated areas of the Coptic Orthodox Church. The visit reflected a spirit of love and cooperation between the two churches.

The visit was attended by Bishop Emeritus Dr. Mouneer Hanna, Director of the Christian-Islamic Center for Understanding and Partnership, Dr. Mohamed Abou Zeid, Coordinator of the Egyptian Family House, and Mr. Maqar El-Omda, the Minya coordinator of the Egyptian Family House. The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen dialogue and build bridges among Egypt’s diverse religious communities.

During the meeting, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy presented to Bishop Paphnutius the key activities of the Christian-Islamic Center, which aims to promote dialogue and coexistence among followers of different religions. He also spoke about the current seminar organized by the center in Minya, titled “Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding”, which brings together youth from various religious backgrounds as part of the center’s mission to spread a culture of understanding and tolerance at the community level.

Archbishop Fawzy expressed his admiration for the wide range of activities undertaken by the Samalout Diocese, commending its efforts in community service and spiritual care. His Eminence Bishop Paphnutius welcomed the visiting delegation with a tour of the New Covenant Complex, showcasing several social and educational projects. The group also visited the Cathedral of the Savior of the World.

The visit concluded with a dialogue session discussing the importance of joint efforts in supporting the values of peace and citizenship, as well as emphasizing the role of churches in serving the community and strengthening national unity.
