Archbishop Installs New Bishop for the Diocese of North Africa

Archbishop Installs New Bishop for the Diocese of North Africa

The Most Reverend Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Episcopal Church, presided over the service and installation of Dr. Ashley Null as Bishop of the Diocese of North Africa, which belongs to the Province. The service took place in the Tunisian capital, with the presence of several bishops and church leaders from within and outside the province.

In his sermon, the Archbishop said that every bishop should follow the example of the Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd who watches over and lays down His life for the sheep. Bishop Ashley also addressed the attendees, holding a pastoral staff — a powerful symbolic gesture of how God uses our lives and transforms them into something beautiful and useful in His service.

The Archbishop extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bishop Ashley on his installation as Bishop of the Diocese of North Africa, wishing him success in his ministry. He prayed that the Holy Spirit would grant him wisdom, courage, and grace as he shepherds the people of the diocese.

It is worth noting that Bishop Ashley Null is now the bishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Diocese of North Africa, which covers five countries: Algeria, Chad, Libya, Mauritania, and Tunisia. He was elected on February 4, 2025, during an electoral synod held in N’Djamena, Chad. He becomes the second bishop of the diocese and the first to be elected to this position.
