The Most Rev. Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of Alexandria for the Episcopal Anglican Province of Alexandria, honored Merkle Adel Touma for achieving first place at Al-Noor School for Students with Visual Disabilities in Suez and for her admission to the Faculty of Arts at Suez University. The recognition took place during his visit to Suez, in the presence of the Rev. Ehab Ayoub, Rector of the Church of the Savior in Suez, and Madeleine Soustanis, Director of the Education Sector.

Merkle’s story, together with that of her sister, was also connected to the establishment of the “Sawa” Center for Persons with Visual Disabilities in Suez. Their experience inspired the establishment of the center with the aim of supporting people with visual disabilities, assisting them in their education and capacity development, and providing opportunities that enable them to participate and integrate into society.

Archbishop Samy Fawzy congratulated Merkle on her academic achievement and wished her success in her university studies. He encouraged her to continue working hard and striving to achieve her goals in the next stage of her journey.

The Archbishop said that her achievement reflects her ability to overcome challenges and reach her aspirations. He also expressed his appreciation for the role of her family and teachers in supporting her throughout her educational journey.

Merkle Adel Touma expressed her happiness at receiving the honor, saying that the Archbishop’s recognition represented a strong motivation for her to continue pursuing success and excellence in her university studies. She also thanked everyone who supported and encouraged her throughout her years of education.

Madeleine Soustanis, Director of the Education Sector, said that Merkle’s achievement was the result of her hard work and continued determination to succeed. She added that supporting and encouraging students helps them continue their education and achieve their goals.

She explained that the Education Sector is committed to following up with students and encouraging them throughout the different stages of their education.

The Rev. Ehab Ayoub, Rector of the Church of the Savior in Suez, said that the Church is happy with Merkle’s achievement and that her success represents a model for the Church’s young people in working hard and striving to achieve their goals. He congratulated Merkle and her family and wished her success in her university studies.

The Archbishop’s visit to Suez comes as part of the Episcopal Church’s commitment to encouraging its members and supporting their educational journeys, celebrating examples of excellence and success, and creating opportunities for students to pursue their aspirations and participate actively in society.
