Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, President of the Alexandria Diocese of the Anglican Church, participated in the Primates’ Conference of the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA), held in the Republic of Seychelles. The participants discussed a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at strengthening the role of churches in the Global South, enabling them to serve as instruments of reform in upholding biblical truth.
During the opening service, Archbishop Théodore André, Archbishop of the Democratic Republic of Congo, reminded attendees not to be surprised if some abandon Jesus and His teachings. After many had left Him, Jesus asked the twelve: “Do you also want to go away?” Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Today, this question is posed to the Global South Anglican churches, and the answer is that we remain to witness the necessity of choosing life over death and light over darkness.
The conference presented the Global South Anglican Churches’ growth plan, which includes three areas of focus: leadership preparation and ministry, missions, and economic empowerment. It also discussed a comprehensive strategic plan to enable the Global South Anglican churches to be more effective instruments in upholding biblical truth, calling believers to remain steadfast in eternal matters and not be swayed by transient cultural changes.
It is noteworthy that the Global South Anglican Churches seek to be a true home for all biblical Anglicans. They uphold a covenantal structure to defend sound faith, promote the Gospel, deepen discipleship, and foster mutual service, with the Bible as the core of their foundation.
The GSFA churches represent the Global South within the worldwide Anglican Communion, comprising 43 provinces that embrace a conservative biblical approach within Anglicanism.
