Head of the Episcopal Church Leads Christmas Prayer at the Reform and Rehabilitation Center

Today, Dr. Sami Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church, led the Christmas prayer at the Reform and Rehabilitation Center in the 10th of Ramadan City, with the participation of Rev. Yeshua Bekhit, pastor of this ministry and Secretary General of the Egyptian Council of Churches.

The Archbishop said: “Christmas calls us to see God within our reality, to transform disappointment into hope, pain into fellowship, and broken expectations into divine appointments. We may not find what we once dreamed of, but we will find something greater—the very presence of Christ Himself, whose light shines in the darkness and grants peace that surpasses all understanding. When we seek God, offer Him our best, and obey His voice, true Christmas begins in our hearts.”

This ministry is provided in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, which issues visitation permits and allows inmates to participate in communal prayers and religious services led monthly by Rev. Yeshua Bekhit, while Archbishop Dr. Sami Fawzy presides over the major holiday services.

The program seeks to meet the spiritual needs of inmates through regular monthly sermons and also addresses humanitarian concerns, particularly supporting foreign inmates by facilitating their travel and return to their countries after completing their sentences, in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

It is noteworthy that the Episcopal Church has been providing ministry to the Reform and Rehabilitation Center for over thirty years, serving both men and women—especially foreign inmates without family or support in Egypt—alongside Egyptian inmates.
