At the Diocesan Staff Celebration…
Head of the Episcopal Church: We Are All Servants, Not Employees

Dr. Sami Fawzy, Archbishop and Primate of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church, joined diocesan staff in their year-end celebration at All Saints’ Cathedral in Zamalek. The gathering was attended by Archdeacon Hany Shenouda, Dean of the Cathedral; Rev. Yeshua Bekhit, Secretary General of the Egyptian Council of Churches; Archdeacon Rev. Yasser Koko, Assistant Bishop for the Sudanese Ministry; and Rev. Moody Habib, priest at the Cathedral.

In his address, the Archbishop said: “We are all servants, not employees. We begin serving the Lord from the start of the year to its end with the biblical promise, ‘You crown the year with Your goodness.’ It is an invitation to reflect on all that God has done with us throughout the year. Every achievement we have accomplished is because of God’s work within us, and every blessing we have received is from Him and for His glory.”

He continued: “Our praise and thanksgiving should be directed to Him alone and not attributed to any person. Everything we do is for His glory.” He then asked, “Through our service, do we truly impact the lives of others?” He added that through prayer and continuous service, God places a crown of goodness and blessing upon the end of the year—even amid sorrows—so that we may enter a new year filled with blessings for all who serve.

At the conclusion of the celebration, directors of the diocesan institutions and ministries shared the challenges and positive experiences they encountered throughout the year. They reviewed the expertise gained and lessons learned, affirming that the spirit of cooperation and teamwork played the greatest role in overcoming difficulties and achieving tangible progress in various areas of ministry.
