Archbishop Prays for Egypt: We Pray That God Grants Our Nation Peace and Blessings

During the Christmas Mass, Dr. Sami Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican Episcopal Church, offered prayers for Egypt, saying:
“We pray that God grants our country peace and blessings. We also lift our prayers for the brotherly people of Sudan and for the Palestinian people, that the bloodshed may cease, that peace may prevail, and that God may remove from them the آثار war and preserve their peoples and lands from all evil.”

He continued in his sermon: On my own behalf, and in the name of the Synod of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church in Egypt, and on behalf of the bishops, clergy, and members of the Church in Egypt and abroad, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all who offered us Christmas greetings.

We extend special thanks to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who delegated Mr. Mohamed Reda, Secretary of the Presidency, to attend the Mass and convey his greetings.

We also express our gratitude to His Holiness Pope Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, who sent a gracious telegram of congratulations and delegated Rev. Our sincere thanks go to Minister Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, who delegated Sheikh Emad Hassan Ahmed, and to His Eminence Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, for his Christmas greetings, as well as to Dr. Nazir Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt, who sent his congratulations and delegated Sheikh Mohamed Osama.

We also commend the efforts of Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, attending as representative of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and we thank Major General Amir Gamal, representing the Minister of Interior, as well as Major General Dr. Hany Samir Abdel Razek, Head of West Cairo District, for attending the Divine Mass.

We extend our thanks to Major General Mohamed Youssef, Assistant Minister of Interior and Cairo Security Director, along with the National Security and police forces for their efforts in securing the cathedral and its surroundings.

We also thank Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Protestant Community in Egypt, who conveyed his greetings and delegated Rev. Refaat Fathy. Our gratitude is extended to Ambassador Dominic Goh, Ambassador of Singapore to Egypt; Dr. Mostafa Abdel Ghany, Secretary General of the Egyptian Family House; Eng.
