Today, Archbishop Dr. Sami Fawzy, Archbishop of the Alexandria Province of the Anglican Episcopal Church, participated in the inauguration of the program organized by the Episcopal Theological College, in partnership with Beeson Divinity School in the United States and the Wittenberg Center for Reformation Studies. The program is a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) designed for priests and bishops from across Africa, in the presence of Dr. Shady Mounir, Dean of the Episcopal Theological College.
Archbishop Dr. Sami expressed his great pleasure at the launch of the program, noting that this academic initiative represents a pivotal step in serving the Church across Africa. He emphasized that the program’s launch is the result of many years of planning, prayer, and collaborative work among the partners.
The program aims to prepare church leaders academically and spiritually through a five-year course covering various topics in theology, church history, and pastoral ministry.
It focuses on equipping church leaders with the knowledge and experience necessary to manage the institutions and theological bodies under their supervision. Delegations from Uganda, Nigeria, South Africa, Burundi, Rwanda, Chad, and Sudan participated in this program.
It is noteworthy that the Episcopal Theological College was established in 2005, where the college’s educational system includes three levels: the first level is the central diocesan college named St. Athanasius in Cairo and Alexandria; the second level includes diocesan colleges under the name St. Cyprian Theological College in Tunis and St. Frumentius College in Gambela, Ethiopia; in addition to the third level, which includes the Minya Center for Theological Studies and the Jabal al-Nuba Institute for Biblical Studies in Cairo
