The Episcopal Theological Seminary Celebrates the Graduation of a New Class
Today, the Episcopal Theological Seminary celebrated the graduation of its 17th class from the Cairo and Alexandria branches, the 5th class from the Minya branch, and the first class of the Master of Theology program. The ceremony was held at All Saints’ Cathedral in Zamalek, in the presence of Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Episcopal/Anglican Church.
Archbishop Fawzy stated:
“Theological education is not limited to the study of religious concepts, but extends to the development of thought and the broadening of human understanding. It helps us to perceive our relationship with God and with the world around us in a deeper and more conscious way.”
He added:
“Academic theological study is one of the tools that equips us to face the challenges of our time and pushes us toward building a world that is more just and merciful. The Church has a pivotal role in spreading knowledge and shaping a community culture based on dialogue, understanding, and love.”
Bishop Dr. Ashley Null, Chairman of the Seminary Board, said:
“Today we celebrate the efforts and sacrifices of the students throughout their years of study, giving thanks to our Lord Jesus who emptied Himself for us, and who has worked in their lives to prepare them for His service and the love of His people.”
Engineer Shady Anis, Dean of the Seminary, remarked:
“True achievement is not measured by worldly success, but by the work of Christ in our lives. Divine grace is the source of strength and hope for every servant called to serve the Lord.”
Dr. Girgis Saleh, representative of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, shared:
“It brings me joy to see something new emerge every year, for this is the beginning of true knowledge. The more we learn and study, the more we discover. I wish you all a blessed and fruitful ministry in your walk with God.”
Reverend Rifaat Fikry, Associate General Secretary of the Middle East Council of Churches, added:
“We are called to proclaim His Gospel without fear, and to present Christ to the world with confidence and joy, for we have every reason to take pride in following Jesus Christ. Amid the cries of a suffering and lost world, our role remains to bring them the good news of hope.”
Among the attendees were Rev. Dr. Justin Terry, board member and academic dean of Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford; and Dr. Canon Bill Salier, Director of Theological Education for GAFCON and former New Testament professor at Moore College in Australia.
