Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Episcopal/Anglican Church, visited Major General Imad Kedwany, Governor of Minya, to discuss and support activities that promote dialogue and community understanding, in alignment with the Egyptian state’s national strategy. The meeting was attended by Bishop Emeritus Dr. Mouneer Hanna, Director of the Christian-Islamic Center for Understanding and Partnership; Dr. Mohamed Abou Zeid, Coordinator of the Egyptian Family House; and Mr. Maqar El-Omda, Coordinator of the Egyptian Family House in Minya.
Archbishop Fawzy expressed his great pleasure at meeting His Excellency Major General Imad Kedwany, thanking him for the warm welcome and praising the strong collaboration between state institutions and the Church in supporting societal peace initiatives.
His Grace emphasized the importance of having ongoing platforms for dialogue, as they are essential foundations for fostering understanding and peaceful coexistence. He also presented the Governor with an overview of the Christian-Islamic Center’s peacebuilding activities, particularly its specialized training programs that aim to build capacities in dialogue, reconciliation, and conflict resolution.
For his part, Governor Imad Kedwany affirmed that Egypt has always been—and will remain throughout history—a unique model of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. He noted that the people of the nation, of all backgrounds and affiliations, form one united fabric, clearly reflected in events like these that embody the highest values of fraternity and national solidarity.
The Governor expressed his deep interest in these events and initiatives that unite Egyptians around a shared vision and instill values of love and unity. He emphasized the important role of religious institutions in nation-building and achieving social stability through collaboration with all state institutions and shared national responsibility.
The visiting delegation expressed their sincere appreciation for the Governor and his efforts in serving the people of Minya across various sectors. They affirmed that such meetings reinforce the values of citizenship and demonstrate that all Egyptians—regardless of their faith—are united in their pursuit of a stronger, more stable nation.
