Today, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Episcopal/Anglican Church, concluded the sessions of the 2025 Synod of the Diocese of Egypt—the Church’s highest governing body—under the diocesan theme “A Living Church for a Better Society.” The closing took place at All Saints’ Cathedral in Zamalek, with the participation of all clergy and committee members.
The Synod issued a statement emphasizing the importance of caring for the family, describing it as the cornerstone of building a healthy and balanced society. In this context, the Synod announced the launch of several pastoral initiatives and awareness programs aimed at empowering couples and fostering a culture of dialogue and mutual understanding within the family.
The Synod also recommended that clergy and leaders from churches and institutions affiliated with the diocese enroll in the Anglican Episcopal training program at the Alexandria School of Theology, highlighting its significance in preparing church leaders, deepening theological understanding, and enhancing effective ministry across various church and institutional sectors.
Furthermore, the Synod reaffirmed the Anglican identity of the Episcopal Church in Egypt, recognizing it as an integral part of the Anglican churches in the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA). This identity reflects the Diocese’s commitment to biblical and doctrinal foundations within the global Anglican communion.
