Christian-Muslim Center Organizes Closing Ceremony for Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding Course in Alexandria

The Christian-Muslim Center for Understanding and Partnership organized the closing ceremony of the “Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding” project in Alexandria Governorate, with the participation of Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Alexandria Province of the Episcopal/Anglican Church.

The event was attended by Rev. David Aziz, Dean of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Mansheya; Rev. Samir Daoud, Director of Community Initiatives at the Center and representative of Bishop Emeritus Mouneer Anis Hanna, Archbishop Emeritus and Director of the Center; Dr. Ibrahim El-Gamal, Rapporteur of the Egyptian Family House in Alexandria; and MP Ehab Zakaria, Member of Parliament.

Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy expressed his joy at participating in the closing of the project, emphasizing that small problems, if not addressed from the beginning, may grow and lead to greater harm. He stressed the importance of promoting a culture of peace and dealing consciously with challenges within society.

Rev. David Aziz also welcomed the attendees, expressing his appreciation for hosting these training programs within the cathedral, which bring together members of the Alexandrian community engaged in social development and strengthen the values of dialogue, understanding, and cooperation.

Rev. Samir Daoud noted that the ceremony does not mark the end of the training, but rather the beginning of a new journey for participants to apply what they have learned in serving society. This includes concepts of citizenship, acceptance of diversity, study of religious texts, mediation mechanisms, and steps for conflict resolution, in addition to implementing community initiatives.

In conclusion, Dr. Ibrahim El-Gamal expressed his appreciation for these initiatives implemented by the Center in cooperation with the Alexandria branch of the Egyptian Family House, affirming that they serve the Egyptian people and promote the values of love and coexistence. He expressed hope for the continuation of such meetings and training programs. Several trainees also shared reflections on what they gained from the course, noting that the training helped them better understand their role in conflict resolution and peacebuilding, and strengthened the spirit of cooperation and joint work among them as Egyptians.
