Archbishop Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church, participated in the meetings of the International Commission for Anglican–Oriental Orthodox Theological Dialogue (AOOIC), which were held at the Episcopal Church Office in London during the month of October.
These meetings come as part of the ongoing theological dialogue and cooperation between the Anglican Communion and the Oriental Orthodox Churches, aimed at strengthening mutual understanding, Christian unity, and joint work for witnessing to Christ in the world.
During the gathering, the participants expressed their gratitude to God for signs of peace in Gaza and for recent peace agreements, and they offered special prayers for the Church in Armenia, which is facing significant challenges and difficult circumstances at this time.
Members of the commission also discussed several important theological and pastoral issues and exchanged perspectives on migration and the theme of witnessing for Christ from the viewpoints of both the Anglican Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.
This meeting continues a series of conferences bringing together representatives of the Episcopal Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches to deepen dialogue on shared theological and ministerial matters, and to strengthen the spirit of love and ecclesial cooperation within the wider universal Church.
The International Commission for Anglican–Oriental Orthodox Theological Dialogue (AOOIC) serves as an official platform for theological dialogue and ecumenical relations between the two church families.
Its objectives include enhancing mutual understanding, clarifying areas of doctrinal convergence, discussing contemporary pastoral and ecclesial issues, and building bridges of friendship and joint cooperation in service and witness to Christ in the world.
