Archbishop Installs a New Pastor for the Episcopal Church in Port Said

Today, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church, presided over the installation service of Rev. Mina Helmy as the new pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Port Said. Participating in the service were Dean Rev. Hany Shenouda, Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral; Dean David Aziz, Pastor of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Alexandria; Rev. Mike Parker; Rev. Faiz Nadi; Rev. Rami Naeem, Pastor of the Episcopal Church in Ismailia; and Mr. Salim Wasif, Lay Minister at All Saints’ Cathedral.

In his sermon, the Archbishop said:
“The Lord Jesus commanded His disciples: ‘Go and make disciples of all nations.’ This is not merely a call to mission, but a continual invitation for every believer. Today, as we dedicate a pastor to serve Christ in the Church of the Epiphany in Port Said, we hear again the Great Commission: ‘Go and make disciples of all nations…’ Mission requires faith and courage to work under difficult and unexpected circumstances, and perseverance in pursuing the goal God sets before us—a divine call for a pastor to see not only the reality but the spiritual vision that distinguishes God’s work.”

He continued:
“The Great Commission rests on three pillars: divine power, divine plan, and divine promise. First, the divine power promised by Christ to His disciples: ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’ This power grants the pastor and the servant courage to face challenges. Without it, ministry becomes mere human effort without fruit; but with Christ’s presence and authority, weakness becomes strength, and the believer can proclaim the Gospel everywhere. Second, the divine plan that Christ outlined is clear: ‘Go, make disciples, baptize, and teach.’ This is a direct call for every believer to step out of their comfort zone and joyfully share salvation with others—in their home, community, and world.”

He concluded:
“Finally, the divine promise with which Christ concludes His command is the eternal assurance for all servants: ‘I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ Christ’s constant presence is the secret of strength and perseverance in trials, empowering every pastor and minister to continue their mission with confidence and hope. Christ never abandons His Church; He grants it the Holy Spirit, who provides wisdom and the ability to accomplish His will. The Great Commission is not an easy task, but it carries the divine promise of triumph and success: those who act in Christ’s power never fail, but bear fruit to God’s glory until the end of days—Amen.”

Attendees of the installation included: MP Ahmed Gohar and MP Ahmed Salama; Major General Tarek Ammar; Mr. Tamer Hamzawy, Secretary-General of the Homeland Defenders Party; Mr. Mohamed El-Gamal, official at the Egyptian Family House; Ms. Aya Adel, Head of the Women’s Committee at the Egyptian Family House; Mr. Walid El-Daada, Head of Arab District; Ms. Samar El-Mawafi, Head of East District; Father Cyrillus, Priest of St. Mina Church in Port Said; Rev.
