Today, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church, together with Rev. Yeshua Bakhit, Secretary General of the Egyptian Council of Churches, took part in the centennial celebration marking the consecration of the Church of the Virgin Mary in Zeitoun—known as the “Church of the Apparition.” The celebration was presided over by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark.
The Archbishop expressed his gratitude to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and to all the servants of the Coptic Orthodox Church for the invitation and the warm reception, affirming that this celebration is not merely a historical commemoration, but a living testimony to God’s work in His Church over the past century, and a call to continue the spiritual and humanitarian mission that serves the nation and proclaims the love of Christ to all.
