Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, presided over the Holy Eucharist Service at Jesus Light of the World Episcopal Church for the Deaf in Old Cairo.
The service was attended by Rev. Clement Alfons, pastor of the Episcopal Church for the Deaf, Lay Minister Magid Hanna, and Claire Gais, advisor for the Deaf Ministry in the Diocese.
In his sermon, the Archbishop said:
“A person’s choices and way of conduct reveal what lies within. Human actions are but a mirror of the heart, for as the Scriptures say: ‘A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart.’ Therefore, a pure and humble heart is always reflected in one’s words and deeds.”
He continued:
“Christ came to teach us humility — He is the King who was born in a manger to show that true glory and honor always spring from humility. He did not come to give us mere outward manners of behavior, but to transform the motives of our hearts from within. He also warned us against pride, which is the root of all sins — the same sin that caused Adam and Eve to fall when they desired to be like God, knowing good and evil.”
He concluded:
“To walk in the path of humility, we must examine ourselves daily. We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, and recognizing our value in Christ leads us to humility. We should also evaluate what we possess, remembering that every good gift comes from above — ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’ Likewise, we must assess our spiritual condition, striving to grow continually in grace, making our bodies temples of the Holy Spirit so that Christ may live in us and His name be glorified through us.”
