Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, participated in the second Evangelical Festival of the Sudanese Ministry held under the theme “Can These Bones Live?”.
The event was attended by Bishop Dr. Yasser Eric, Dean Hany Shenouda, Dean of All Saints’ Cathedral, and Rev. Dr. Yasser Koko, pastor of the Sudanese Ministry at the Cathedral.
In his address, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy said:
“The hand of the Lord works within us to teach us humility and repentance. Sometimes, He allows us to walk through dry places where we feel weak and lifeless — so that we may realize our true need for Him. It is there that the Holy Spirit begins to revive us and give us new life.
We have all come today with different expectations, but we share one thirst — the longing to encounter God. And Christ has promised us: ‘Whoever drinks of the water I give will never thirst again.’”
He continued:
“The Holy Scripture reminds us: ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.’ The Holy Spirit is the living water that fills our hearts with life. To keep this pure water within us, our lives must remain pure and open to the Spirit so that He may complete His work in us and fulfill God’s will.”
Bishop Yasser Eric, in his opening remarks, said:
“Today we stand with deep gratitude to our beloved Egypt — this land that has not only been a place of residence for us but has become a second home and a refuge of safety.
We thank its generous people who received us with open hearts and sincere love, opening their homes and churches to us. We also thank all churches of various denominations that welcomed us, giving us spaces for fellowship, worship, and spiritual communion.”
