Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria, led a Service of Thanksgiving for Mama Saadia, a faithful servant of the church and wife of The Reverend Canon Nabil Abdallah of the Episcopal Church in Sudan. The service took place at All Saints’ Cathedral in Zamalek, with the participation of Reverend Dr. Yasser Koko, pastor of the Sudanese congregation, along with several priests and servants from the Sudanese Episcopal Church.
The Archbishop said:
“On behalf of myself, the clergy, and the people of the Episcopal Church in Egypt, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Mama Saadia’s family and to the Church. We pray that the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, fills all our hearts.”
He concluded:
“Though we feel the pain of parting, we have a firm hope in Christ who died and rose again — and thus, death does not end our relationship with God. We grieve and weep, just as Christ did, yet God’s grace fills us with peace in the midst of sorrow. Our sister Saadia passed through the valley of the shadow of death without fear, for she trusted in the Lord. We sing in gratitude for her life and service, and we pray that the Lord fills our hearts with comfort — for she was a source of love and constant support to all around her.”
