Today, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Province of Alexandria of the Anglican Episcopal Church, visited His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, to check on his well-being following his return to work. He was accompanied by Archbishop Dr. Mouneer Hanna, Archbishop Emeritus and Director of the Center for Christian-Muslim Understanding and Partnership, along with lay minister Salim Wasif.
Archbishop Samy Fawzy expressed his great joy at the Grand Imam’s return to his duties, wishing him continued health and well-being. He emphasized the deep fraternal relationship between the Episcopal Church and Al-Azhar, a relationship strengthened by the initiatives of the Center for Christian-Muslim Understanding and Partnership.
The Archbishop also extended his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr. Mohamed Al-Mahrasawi, former president of Al-Azhar University, praying that God may grant his family and loved ones patience and comfort.
He concluded by expressing his appreciation for the ongoing support and encouragement offered by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Al-Azhar, especially for the Center’s various activities and programs.
