Our conversation today, my beloved, is not about human wisdom, as many believe and preferred by the world, but our talk today is about wisdom according to God’s thought. Through the following points, each of us can test himself and answer this question: “Who is the wise man?” And whoever lacks a matter in this regard, there is a happy and joyful human being recorded in the divine revelation, as he says, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all and does not reproach.”
First: The wise man is the one who listens to God’s word attentively
In the Book of Proverbs chapter 1 verse 5, the divine revelation tells us that the word of God is heard by the wise, so he increases in knowledge and management through personal seclusion or the life of fellowship with the group of believers.
Second: A wise man is one who obeys the advice of the pious
In the Book of Proverbs chapter 12 and number 5, the divine inspiration tells us that the one who listens to advice is wise, so whatever our spiritual experiences we are in dire need of advice from the pious.
Third: The wise man comforts the souls of miserable sinners
In the book of Proverbs chapter 11 and number 30, the divine revelation tells us that the winner of souls is wise, and wisdom here is the one who wins a soul for the Lord, by giving stability to his family and then stability to the community.
Fourth: The wise man turns away from evil and affliction. In the Book of Proverbs chapter 14 and number 16, the wise man turns away from evil and affliction, which is what Joseph did when he refused sin and fled from evil. Wisdom requires us to stay away, but rather to flee from evil and sin.
Fifth: The wise man restrains his tongue from nonsense. In Proverbs chapter 10 and number 19 he says, “Indeed many words are not devoid of disobedience.” Likewise in Proverbs chapter 16 and number 23 “The heart of the wise guides his mouth.” Do not engage in frivolous, worthless talk.
Sixth: The wise man is diligent in his work without slackening. In the book of Proverbs chapter 10 and number 5, the divine revelation tells us that whoever gathers in the summer is a wise son. Practical success is not separated from spiritual success, for both are two sides of the same coin, and we have in Joseph a model and an example.
Seventh: The wise man brings happiness and contentment to others. In Proverbs chapter 10 and number 1, the divine revelation mentions that a wise son pleases his father, for the wise is the one who brings happiness and peace to those around him.
You can now test yourself in light of the previous points, and if you need wisdom in any of the above, ask the Lord of wisdom, for He gives and does not lend
The blessing of the Lord be with you. Amen.
