Archbishop: Faith is to die from sin

Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria, delivered a speech at the “So the World Knows” conference preparatory for the celebration of the 2000th anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, at the Anaphora Monastery, where the first activities of the theological conference are held.

The Archbishop said in his speech: Today we begin a journey celebrating the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. I felt that the importance of the celebration is of the importance of the resurrection and the new life in Christ, as the Apostle Paul said in his epistle to the Romans: ”We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4 adding: As the life of faith begins with repentance, to become believers and pledge to live a life of holiness.

The Archbishop added: Faith is to die with Christ from sin and unite with the Lord Jesus Christ through the baptism of his pain, his death, burial, and resurrection, completing: We begin the life of faith by declaring that we are dead in Christ and acknowledging the resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the dead because we rise in unity with Him to walk in the new life.

The Archbishop pointed out: In light of the fact of the glorious resurrection, we build our faith and give glory to God

20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep. Hebrews 13:20

The Archbishop concluded by saying: The results of the glorious resurrection are that it transformed poison into medicine, for a glorious resurrection transformed the gate of death to become the gate of eternal life, and the gates of Hell were destroyed, where death could not be caught, as Christ opened the gates of Paradise.

It is worth mentioning that this conference is held under the umbrella of the Egypt Council of Churches, and the international group 2033 JC, which aims to prepare Christians all over the world for this great event, which is the celebration of the 2000th anniversary of the resurrection of Christ and work to unite all Christians in their different churches around this date.
