Archbishop: Ask God with determination in hardship and distress to prove your faith
Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Church, presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Episcopal/Anglican Church in Maadi, where he was received by Rev. Osama Fathy, the Church’s pastor.
The Archbishop devoted the homily to the liturgy to talk about facing the challenges facing the believer in his request for hope and salvation, as Bartimaeus did. He was looking for God’s help and healing so that he could see and affirm that asking for God’s help in times of hardship and distress makes us steadfast in the faith.
Archbishop said that Bartimaeus’ desire to obtain salvation and healing did not come at the invitation of anyone, but his persistence and knowledge of his needs made him cry out to God asking for healing.
The bishop stressed the importance of being aware of our situation, so we should not pay attention to frustrations or condemnations from others.
Since his ordination as Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria, the Archbishop has been presiding over the Divine Liturgy in different churches, so that it becomes an opportunity to inspect the service and meet the people of the Church closely.
