The Archbishop celebrates the graduation of a batch of nurses: Your profession is noble and sublime
Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria, honored today the second batch of the Nurses Training School at Harpur Memorial Hospital in Menouf affiliated with the Church, where 12 nurses were trained in 2019
Bishop Samy Fawzy said in his speech to the new batch that the nursing profession is noble and sublime, and because it is in the medical field, it requires education and effort. The nurse is an important part of any hospital and it cannot be dispensed with, and his role is as important as that of the attending physician, adding: Nursing is a service that enables you to benefit from all your talents as you provide Caring for the needy and the afflicted, and fills you with joy while you contribute to alleviating the pain of the tired, and you know that God rewards true service, and if people do not see you, trust that God sees you, because God is not unjust to forget your work and the toil of suffering.
Bishop Samy continued: The nurse provides comprehensive care, whether it is spiritual, physical, or social care, to reduce the patient’s suffering and relieve the aches and pains that he feels, as this profession requires sincerity and honesty, as well as the ability to work in a team and bear the mental state of patients and help them get rid of the emotion, tension and depression that they cause. Many patients go through it.
Bishop Samy concluded: I look forward to the smiling faces receiving the graduation certificates, and I invite the graduates to remember the long days of hard work and hard study, for it is a journey that we are heading today with success and graduation. There is no doubt that you have met many difficulties and hardships while studying at the institute, but who can deny the existence of wonderful moments of learning and friendships that will last for many years to come.
On his behalf, Dr. Samir Rizkallah, Director of Harpur Memorial Hospital in Menouf, welcomed the attendees in his speech, stressing: The Harpur Memorial Hospital is a Christian hospital affiliated with the Episcopal/Anglican Church in Egypt, whose goal is to serve and care for patients, and that the ideal for all its workers is Christ in his teachings and service.
Dr. Samir added: The school comes in light of a plan to raise the efficiency of the medical level in the hospital, as it is keen to take care of the patient in spirit, soul, and body. And it seeks to graduate a batch of qualified nurses at the highest level, where they are trained in medical nursing, surgical nursing, children and women, psychiatric nursing, the basics of nursing, and medicines.
