Considered a permanent camp, Pinyadu is one of the oldest refugee camps in the Gambella Region. Most of the churches are Nuer, although there is one Dinka congregation. 2,000 people attended the confirmation service when the bishop came in 2016 and more than 250 people were confirmed. In 2015, Pinyadu II was formed to accomodate 25,000 new refugees, and four new congregations are currently worshiping in that part of the camp.
The priest-in-charge is the Revd Paul Puok.
